Ted Rosenthal Trio returns to the Berkshires

Jazz at Tangldewood Institute

By: - Jul 02, 2024

One of the leading jazz pianists of his generation, Ted Rosenthal was winner of the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition. He has released fifteen CDs as a leader, and has performed in numerous settings in the region, including a memorable set at BUTI last August. In this return engagement, his trio, featuring Martin Wind on bass and Tim Horner on drums, will perform a varied program including jazz standards, Ted's arrangements from the Great American Songbook, as well as his original compositions, including selections from his jazz opera, "Dear Erich."

You may have caught Ted on our stages over the years, celebrating the works of Thelonious Monk, George Gershwin, or even Chopin. And folks are still buzzing about his performance of Rhapsody in Blue with the advanced ensemble of Kids 4 Harmony.

“There aren't many modern jazz pianists more dexterous than Mr. Rosenthal.”

- Nate Chinen, New York Times

The concert is at the West Street Theater, 45 West St. Lenox, on the BUTI campus. Tickets are $20 at the door.
