A Tragicomic Ode to the Foreverness of Plastic by Artist Robin Frohardt

Williamstown Theatre Festival announces The Plastic Bag Store, produced by MASS MoCA in association with WTF, opening May 9. Created by artist Robin Frohardt and produced by Pomegranate Arts, this immersive, multimedia experience will be open from May 9 through September 2 in MASS MoCA’s Building 1 and is recommended for ages 6+. Tickets can be purchased only through MASS MoCA.

Stay tuned for additional programming announcements about Williamstown Theatre Festival’s 2024 Season in the coming weeks!

The Plastic Bag Store creatively addresses global climate concerns through art, humor, and a critical lens. Frohardt has meticulously hand-sculpted thousands of items, including produce, dry goods, cakes, and sushi rolls, using discarded plastic bags that have been thoroughly washed and ingeniously up-cycled.

Step into a vibrantly heightened, tongue-in-cheek supermarket setting meant to spark critical reflection on our culture of consumption and convenience.
