Why

I Read the News Today Oh Boy

Why

Why me
They ask
Familiar conundrums
With no answers
Afflicted
Pain and suffering
Human condition
Known to all
Burden of life
Castle to hovel
Where was God
In the death camps
No poetry
After Auschwitz
Lament of the
Chosen people
Or Syria
Assad bombing
His own people
Scattered
Blown asunder
By winds of war
While ISIS
Beheads infidels
Where is He
Bedsides of
Diseased
Riddled with cancer
Children of famine
Thin as sticks
Too faint for lessons
Elders on catfood
In this land of
Milk and honey
Why me they ask
Looking down
Perhaps
The Creator
Lends a deaf ear
As Job’s wife said
Curse God
And die
