Noblesse
Burdens of Birth
By: Charles Giuliano - Feb 25, 2015
Noblesse
Tenth Earl of Tarrington
Nursed his scotch
Musing languidly
Gazing with no particular focus
From the great house
Into manicured gardens
Behind which woods for hunting
Stretching beyond
Inviting strolling
Dressed snugly in tweed
Shotgun and hound
Occasionally bagging
Fowl for feasting
Or blasting a round
Up the ass of a brash poacher
Intruders on the ancient property
Passed down father to
Eldest son
Since Hastings and all that
Back from the dragoons
Scars to prove
Curious ennui since
Nothing much to do
Season in London
Sessions of Parliament
Balls with debutantes
Evenings at the club
Chums from Oxford
Punters and scullers
Occasional slumming
For the sport of it
Deep sigh
Finished the drink
Toasting the Queen
Walked out to the terrace
Blew his brains
Nothing else to do
Quite
