Dr. Josephine R. Flynn
Upstanding citizen
Practiced medicine
In posh Brookline
A town actually
Something of a misnomer
Given its scale and population
Bordering on Boston
Mom called
I'm running for town council
Yes and so
I responded
Well she pressed
Will you vote for me
That depends said I
What are your
Qualifications
Shocked and angered
What do you mean
I'm your mother
Well Mom
Not the best reason
That's called
Nepotism
Abruptly
The phone went dead
Some time later
She called again
Rather briefly
No thanks to you
I've been elected
So there
She served two terms
Of which today
Now more mature
I am of course
Busting with pride
Mom earned every vote
Just not mine
