Blue Heron Gallery Online, a virtual art gallery, will be presenting the art of North Adams artist Chalice Mitchell beginning at noon on Saturday, March 1, 2021.  The show, appearing on, will feature her paintings, and present the artist in photographs and her Artist Statement.

Artist Mitchell was educated at Ringling College of Art & Design and earned an MFA from the University of South Florida.  Mitchell has exhibited internationally, including shows in Tokyo, London, New York, Moscow, Athens, Wellington, and Vancouver. Her work is owned by collectors across the world and she has attended residencies in Japan, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The show will present a variety of her work showing influences from both Zen and Daoism, and a “what is and what is not” flavor.  Each piece will be available for purchase directly from the show online, which runs through April 11.  Pieces purchased will be shipped to the buyers.

The gallery is the creation and work of Michael McGrath, a former web designer and developer who earned Webby Award recognition for work in 2005.

A recent transplant to North Adams by way of a small Daoist temple in central China, he saw an opportunity to serve the rich artist community in the northern Berkshires by offering an online art gallery for both showing and selling their work.  With sticks-and-bricks galleries shut down still by Covid-19 and quarantine, artists had no outlet for their work, and the need for a safe yet full venue arose.

The virtual gallery’s first two shows, “Still Standing Standing Still,” featuring North Adams artist Galen Cheney, and “Getting Loud In A Quiet Way,” featuring Boston artist Peter McGrath, were successful during their thirty days each, and saw visitor traffic from 36 states in the US, and 25 countries from all over the world, that averaged some 72 people per day viewing their art.  Two sales were generated from the Peter McGrath show just ending.

Gallery shows are presently booked through May, 2021, and news of future shows is regularly updated on the gallery website,

McGrath also offers support services to artists through the gallery, including website design and development, and recently launched a new website that was developed for first show artist Galen Cheney -  A second new website, for second show artist Peter McGrath, will launch shortly -
