Crucifixion

For Christmas
I got an oil painting kit
It came with paint and brushes
Two small bottles
Turpentine and linseed oil
A small canvas board
All by myself
Not looking at anything
Sketched Christ on his cross
On top of a hill
Mount Calvary
Road leading up to it
Below Three Marys
Two actually
Just a kid
Forgot the third one
Black sky with
Thunder and lightning
Blood from  wounds
Stigmata I later learned
All my passion
Love of Jesus
Went into that work
My first
Genuine oil painting
Remembered now
On Easter weekend
My profound faith
So very long ago
