Berkshire Opera Festival Presents Flower and Hawk
At Historic Ventfort Hall in Lenox
By: BOF - Apr 08, 2026
Berkshire Opera Festival (BOF) invites audiences to step into the riveting world of Eleanor of Aquitaine in Flower and Hawk, a gripping monodrama by Carlisle Floyd, on Saturday, May 2 at 2:00 PM at Ventfort Hall Mansion & Gilded Age Museum.
This intimate, 50-minute performance (no intermission), sung in English, brings to life one of the most powerful women of the Middle Ages—queen of two nations, mother of kings, and a commanding political force. Set during her imprisonment in Salisbury Tower, Flower and Hawk unfolds as Eleanor reflects on the triumphs and betrayals that shaped her extraordinary life.
BOF’s special presentation also commemorates the centennial of celebrated American composer Carlisle Floyd, offering audiences a moving tribute to one of opera’s most influential voices.
The performance stars soprano Ashley Marie Robillard, a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and award recipient from the Gerda Lissner Foundation and Opera Index, whose vibrant artistry brings Eleanor’s story to life. She is accompanied by pianist Grant Loehnig, Head of Music Staff at Opera Philadelphia and Master Opera Coach at the Curtis Institute of Music, who has worked with leading companies including Lyric Opera of Chicago and Wolf Trap Opera.
Following the performance, all audience members are invited to stay for a lively post-show chat and Q&A with the artists over light refreshments—an opportunity to engage more deeply with the work and its connection to BOF.
Tickets are $30 for general admission and $15 for students. Eligible cardholders may reserve free tickets through the Card to Culture program. Tickets can be purchased through the Berkshire Opera Festival websit
