VISIONS OF AMERICA IS BOSTON POPS 2012 UNIFYING THEME
The Boston Pops 2012 unifying theme, Visions of America, inspires a season dedicated to celebrating many of this country’s greatest musical traditions. Concerts throughout the season feature striking images from photo-historian Joseph Sohm’s extraordinary Americana collection on screens above Boston Pops performances.  For the May 9 Opening Night program, Mr. Sohm’s images will be accompanied by a Boston Pops performance of Love Is Sweeping the Country.

ADDITIONAL OPENING NIGHT DETAILS
The opening night performance kicks off with an all-Gershwin first half to include the instantly recognizable Rhapsody in Blue featuring pianist Michael Chertock, and legendary Berklee College of Music professor Maggie Scott will sing a Gershwin Medley in the festively decorated Symphony Hall. After intermission the inimitable Bernadette Peters will perform genre-defining tunes such as Let Me Entertain You, Some Enchanted Evening, and Kramer’s Song.
