Threatened detectives

Great escape
Finishing degree

Furtive first sex
Looking over her shoulder
Or out the window

The fearful shadows

Worked for the phone company
Long enough
To Japan
Then on to Thailand
Trek in Cambodia
Ancient temples
Seemingly forever
In our exchanges of letters
Afraid of losing her
Eventually returned
Buddhist vegetarian
Tears at Thanksgiving
Refused turkey
Dad flung on her plate
The drumstick
Just to look at it
Like normal Sicilians
Carnivores
Furious at her defiance
