Bascom Lodge Reopens

Second Season on Mt. Greylock

On Saturday, May 15th and May 16th Bascom Lodge on the Summit of Mount Greylock will celebrate the Opening of its 2010 Season with Free Family Programming of Native American performances. There will be activities for the whole family starting at 11AM each day.

From 11am - 1pm children and adults are invited to participate in the raising of the Healing Winds Tipi. At 1pm James Ettsity Jr. a Navajo Medicine Man will offer a traditional Native American Mountain blessing honoring the mountain, the entire natural habitat, and visitors to Mt. Greylock.Following at 2pm is storytelling by Abenaki elder Willow Green.

At 3pm is Native American drumming, singing and social friendship dances.At 4:30 pm There will be a special performance by Grammy nominated Joseph FireCrow, a renowned Native American Flute Man  and singer (Saturday only).In addition a rare Mohawk Trail American Indian Doll and Village Collection will be on display on display.

Starting on this grand opening weekend Bascom Lodge will be open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch, dinner and lodging through October.

The Grand Opening programing is presented in collaboration with Healing Winds a not for profit organization whose mission is to establish Native American cultural and educational programming that honors wisdom traditions and spiritual technologies promoting community wellness and family harmony.

 Bascom Lodge is operated by the Bascom Lodge Group in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation's Historic Curatorship Program.
Special prix fixe dinners will be offered on opening weekend.
