Manship Artists Residency

Honoring Poet Charles Coe

By: - May 12, 2026

I’m writing to share meaningful news from Manship Artists Residency—and to invite you to help us launch a lasting tribute to a remarkable poet, teacher, community builder, and fellow Manship Artist, the late Charles Coe (1952-2025). Today, we are honored to carry his legacy forward, and with your help as a founding donor we can establish a residency in his name that will support our next generation of poets.

Perhaps you knew Charles personally, or you encountered his work at readings and through conversations across Massachusetts and beyond. You may not be aware, but as one of our earliest residents at Manship, one with a past at the Mass Cultural Council, Charles helped shape the residency at a formative moment in our history. You can check out the residency page we have created to announce the Charles Coe Poet-in-Residence HERE.

There are several ways to get involved. You could make a one-time contribution, consider a multi-year pledge, or sponsor a specific component of the residency or a program. Most importantly, your participation will help create something Charles believed in deeply, - as I know you do too, - a space where artists can do their work, connect with others, and contribute meaningfully to the world around us.

We hope you will join us.

With gratitude,

Rebecca Reynolds

We will be sharing details about a September poetry event to celebrate Charles' birthday and to launch the call for entries in the Summer. If you would like to be involved early, help us plan, or attend the poetry program as a special guest, please let us know soon—we would love to include you.
