We start off with the LSO, a symphony orchestra made up of medical professionals. This will be their debut performance in Seiji Ozawa Hall.

With the medical musicians of Longwood Symphony Orchestra, it is appropriate that LSO will partner with Berkshire Children and Families for an extraordinary two-day collaboration beginning with a symposium focusing on Inspired Prevention, child education and literacy featuring Drs. Eli Newberger and Kerby Alvy. The highlight of the weekend is LSO's June 12th Ozawa Hall debut under the baton of Artistic Director and Conductor Jonathan McPhee featuring the works of Debussy, Nielsen and American composer Gene Scheer. Celebrating music, healing and the inextinguishable human spirit, Maestro McPhee will lead LSO in a performance of Albert Schweitzer Portrait by Gene Scheer (2009) narrated by State Representative Daniel E. Bosley. This work was co-commissioned by Longwood Symphony Orchestra and the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship in 2009 to honor Dr. Albert Schweitzer, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, musician, physician and humanitarian. The concert will also include Nielsen’s moving Symphony No. 4 “The Inextinguishable” and Debussy’s epic La Mer.

Go to the bathroom first because you will be laughing so much and it is 100 minutes long with no intermission. Leigh Barrett, Mary Callanan, Kerry A. Dowling and David Benoit star in this delightful new musical about agoraphobia, adultery, spray cheese, road kill, hysterical pregnancy, kleptomania, flan and disco. When Pippi, a stripper on the run, comes between Dr. Phil-loving, agoraphobic Jeannie and her toll-collector husband, neighbors Betty, Lin and Pickles team up to save their friend's marriage. I assure you that you don’t have to remember any of the above details. Just go and enjoy the antics of the white trash in the trailer park. BTW, Mary Callanan will be appearing in their next show a tribute to Sophie Tucker. She is a terrific performer and will do the Tucker proud.

An evening with Cole Porter. How great is that? Spend an intimate evening with composer/songwriter Cole Porter, one of the best-known contributors to the Great American Songbook. Stars from the Broadway stage and Fellows from the Tanglewood Music Center bring to life a selection of his many hits including “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” “In the Still of the Night,” “Love for Sale,” “Night and Day,” “Don’t Fence Me In,” and selections from the Tony award winning musical comedy, Kiss Me, Kate.
