Man on a horse
In France a chevalier
Knight in shining armor
From cheval or horse
Which oddly enough
To this day they eat
For us dog food
Not what once was
When cowboys
Roamed the Great Plains
Native Americans
Hunted buffalo
On Spanish ponies
Chivalry not what it was
Knightly code of conduct
Pledge to protect
Our most vulnerable
Honoring women
Maidens and mothers
Warriors for children
Myths of the past
Where are our Lancelots
Caped crusaders
Truth, justice and the American way
Stand mute and impotent
Silent in shadows
Skulking in shade
While children cry
Huddled in cages
Snatched from mothers
Yearning to be free
Home of the brave
Nation of immigrants
Like you and me
What’s Great about that
On your yellow head
Cowering craven coward
Putrid as Putin
Vile prince of Hades
So full of hate
Builder of walls
Prisons for hearts and minds
