Seiji Ozawa Hall of Tanglewood, presented an all Beethoven Piano Trio program to a packed house and overcrowded lawn. Three outstanding musicians, Emanuel Ax on piano, Leonidas, Kavados on violin and Berkshire resident, Yo-Yo Ma on cello, performed.

The suspense of when to applaud (in-between numbers?) led to a bit too much audience participation during the short rests taken by the musicians. That put aside, magic prevailed that evening.

With such a large, enthusiastic lawn crowd and superb musicians, the evening was a stunning success.

The program consisted of three ‘Beethoven Piano Trios.’.
Piano Trio in C minor, Opus 1, No. 3
Piano Trio in E-flat, Opus 70, No. 2
Piano trio in B-flat, Opus 97, ‘Archduke’

The music featured exquisite showmanship from both Leonidas Kavados and Yo-Yo Ma. Both musicians played as if they were reached astonishing  peaks.

This trio has performed together in the past. They have delighted audiences over the past ten years from Brahms  to Beethoven.

Several curtain calls were taken concluding a memorable night of Beethoven.
