Grand

Grand
Ain’t it grand he said
Canyon that is
Looking all about
Sweeping panorama
What a natural wonder
Teetering on the edge
Staring down deep
River carved through rock
Eons upon eons
Cost a grand or so
Probably more than that
What with gas
Food and motels
Miles and miles
From here to there
Way out yonder
For all to see
Just me and the Mrs.
Much younger then
Wallowing in grandeur
So long ago
Through Four Corners
Swing by Painted Desert
Winding wild west
A grand tour indeed
Darn right fine
The American sublime
When you got time
Not taking for granite
Under the big sky
Way back when
Chip off the old rock
On the road again
Far from home where
Buffalo don’t roam
No more nowadays
Purple haze
Done come and gone
Singing a song
Slip sliding along
This land is our land
For all those
Longing to be free
Like you and me
