The Cantilena Chamber Choir will present a concert, “Emily Dickinson in Words & Song" on Sunday, Oct. 10, at 5 p.m. The performance at Trinity Church will feature music by Aaron Copland: “Emily Dickinson Songs” and Eliot Carter: “Musicians Wrestle Everywhere,” “Heart Not So Heavy. Also on the program is Samuel Barber’s "Let Down the Bars O Death," and Alice Parker’s Emily Dickinson songs” and music by Libby Larsen.

There will also be a pre-concert lecture at 4:15pm about Dickinson’s life and work by Cindy Dickinson, the Director of Interpretation and Programming at the Emily Dickinson Museum in Amherst.
 
In a special collaboration with the choir, actor Jonathan Epstein will read the poems before the music. Mr. Epstein has most recently starred as Leontes  in the Shakespeare & Company’s critically acclaimed production of “The Winter’s Tale” and before that at the Berkshire Theater Festival as Engstrand in Ibsen’s "Ghost" and Davies in Pinter’s "The Caretaker." He has been master teacher of the BTF Apprentice Company, and for many years he was principal actor, teacher, and director with Shakespeare & Company. Mr. Epstein has twice been the recipient of Eliot Norton Awards for Outstanding Actor. He most recently appeared as Max Kellerman in the pre-Broadway national tour of "Dirty Dancing."

.Now in its seventh season, the Cantilena Chamber Choir is the Berkshire region's leading a cappella group. It is comprised of 24 singers who possess vocal training, good sight-reading skills and considerable choral experience. For the past two seasons it was heard on a special WMHT Christmas Eve radio broadcast of Lessons and Carols recorded at Trinity Church, Lenox.

The Choir has collaborated with the New England Baroque Soloists, Aston Magna and The Empire Brass, and will appeared a second time last December with The Empire Brass at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington. Past season highlights include a concert of works by Shostakovich, an all-Berkshire composer concert, several programs for children, and a special benefits for the Lenox Library and the Berkshire Immigrant Center.
 
The Cantilena Chamber Choir is under the artistic direction of Andrea Goodman who is also the Director of the Northern Berkshire Chorale in Williamstown and the Saratoga Choral Festival, an annual summer concert series for chorus and orchestra in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
