Aging
Refusing to Wear Pearls or Pink
By: Jane Hudson - Sep 29, 2014
AGING
For a woman
getting old is becoming
like mother
even grandmother.
The admonitions of resolve
to exercise
to diet
to forgive oneself
for failing to do either.
I still can’t bring
myself to wear pearls
or pink
or prints
but when ice covers
the walkways
or the hill is just to steep
to climb
I see myself mirrored
in memory
of the way
they soldiered on.
