The Metaphor
A Tall Krater

THE METAPHOR
I’m looking for an image
That can move
Us from thinking so literally
With figures and initiatives,
For ways to find relief
From the dread of failure.
Something like a vessel,
A tall krater
Found abandoned
Under the caustic silt of neglect.
When dissolved
By salty tears of remembered greatness,
The emerging design
So subtle, so heroic
Seems to offer a
Transfusion, a kick up of the blood,
A new air
Floating up through the neck
To speak
Eloquent truths.
