Recently Pippy Giuliano and her family, husband Yuri Tuvim, and daughter Sarah traveled to Iceland. Yuri has family there and they have been frequent visitors over many years. The occasion was to celebrate Arni's birthday. Pippy, a gifted artist, created a stunning portfolio of images. They richly convey the rugged natural beauty of a spectacular landscape.

"Dear Sarah, thank you for filling me in about Iceland's on and off camera charms, which I would love now to experience first hand. As for my comments about N.A,'s superiority, they were meant somewhat facetiously, but as you make clear we lack the history of all those hundreds of years. I will, however, stick to my guns about BAM-- guarded by hearty creatures, our steepled fabulous museum. It has no rival in Iceland, nor I think, in the world. (Ask Charles!) I do appreciate your gift of flowers, how they enhance with lightness and charm their bearer's physiognomy. It is a pleasure to meet you via BFA, as it was to read the article and see the photos,. "Stephen, regrettably, I must burst your imagination bubble; I picked those flowers for my father. It was a dreary, grey day and I thought he could use a bit of color. Also, these photos, though beautiful, show only a fraction of Iceland's wonder. The country's old world charm is simply not represented in this small collection of photos. There are loads of tiny villages and towns all over the country; nearly each one has a quaint steepled church, and many have grass-roofed stone huts built hundreds of years ago. FYI, (as Charles likes to say) Iceland was settled in the late ninth century, talk about old world!"

"Noteworthy, as well, is the remarkable wild flower chin display, offered apparently by an imaginative and friendly looking native We are made to feel, especially if the visitor is tepid or timorous, welcome. We appreciate the gesture."

"While Iceland seems to lack the old world, village charm of North Adams, MA, and steepled museums such as the BAM, it does look breathtakingly beautiful. Your photographer captures its nature spectacularly. Kudos!"
