"Lots of Brahmins left, they just try to be anonymous. "The Country Club" [in Brookline] is where they hang out. Only recently (perhaps 20 years ago--but recent in Boston terms) did they accept black and Jewish members."

"You should write life among the Brahams.I once read a book by Denis Lahane that did a good job of imaging boston with southie mentality and brahman mentality. I came across it in an apartment in Paris and read it in two days.All my father could say about the Brahmans is that they don’t know how to eat."

"Living at South Station we used to walk Castle Island with the dog, and passed and greeted Whitey frequently. Didn't know the story then. As to Brahmins, there aren't too many left!"
