Crescedo Performances Nov. 10 and 11
La Lombardesca--The Golden Era of the Baroque in 17th Century Poland
By: Crescendo - Oct 08, 2012
On November 10 and 11 Lakeville’s music organization Crescendo, with support from the Polish Cultural Institute of New York, presents “La Lombardesca--The Golden Era of the Baroque in 17th Century Poland.”
While in Poland to perform a solo harpsichord recital, Crescendo’s Artistic Director Christine Gevert collected a wealth of large-scale masterpieces of the 16th and 17th century Baroque Polish repertoire, many never heard by U.S. audiences.
This program will feature these works by the most eminent Polish composers of the time. The Crescendo Chorus will be joined by the renowned Baroque vocal soloist Julianne Baird and the Crescendo Period Instrument Ensemble playing on historic instruments.
Gevert will conduct.
Performances are: Saturday, Nov. 10 at 6 pm at the First Congregational Church in Great Barrington and here in Lakeville on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 4 pm at Trinity Lime Rock.
Talks about the music precede each concert by 30 minutes.
