Volcano
To Hell and Back
By: Charles Giuliano - Oct 09, 2014
Volcano
Up the steep slope
Challenging ascent
Billowing sulfurous smoke
Hands and knees
Inching forward
The edge
Red rimmed
Belching ash
Choking and gasping
With a surge
Over the top
Eyeballs cooking
We Gazed
Deep in its bowels
Lava bubbling
Bat winged prince
Tearing melting flesh
Howling soul writhing
Harrowing glimpse
Branded in memory
Scrambled ascent
Years later
Lunch
Crisp Chardonnay
Tall slim glasses
Clinked
Toast
To the Volcano
Recalling youth
What Volcano
You know
The volcano
Don’t know what you’re talking about
How can you say that
You were there
Beside me
Staring into the ass of hell
Man that was something
Never happened
Besides
A long time ago
Who can remember
You confuse me
With somebody else
Never had this conversation
Get over it
That volcano was never real
For me it was
Still feel the heat
Monster
Tearing at my flesh
Seems like
Yesterday
