Adriana Lecouvreur
From the Royal Opera House, London, England
Conducted by Mark Elder
Directed by David McVicar
Adriana Lecouvreur: ANGELA GHEORGHIU
Poisson: IAIN PATON
Maurizio: JONAS KAUFMANN
Quinault: DAVID SOAR

Mademoiselle Jouvenot: JANIS KELLY
Michonnet: ALESSANDRO CORBELLI
Mademoiselle Dangeville: SARAH CASTLE
Prince De Bouillon: MAURIZIO MURARO
Abbé De Chazeuil: BONAVENTURA BOTTONE
This looks like a terrific production with David McVicar at the helm and featuring not only Gheorghiu and Kaufman, but Janis Kelly, who performed Pat Nixon and is the go-to diva for Rufus Wainwright's Prima Donna. Also in the cast, the great Olga Borodina. Mark Elder conducts.
Based on a play by Scribe and Legouvé, and composed by Francesco Cilea, this promises to be a special HD occasion.
Berkshire Museum, 39 South Street, Pittsfield, October 23 and November 1.
