By: Berkshire Jazz - Oct 20, 2021
A big weekend featuring Jazz at the Gateways Inn in downtown Lenox starts on Thursday, Oct. 21. Performers include
Thursday, 10/21: alto saxophonists Kris Allen
Friday, 10/22: pianist Armen Donelian; and
Saturday, 10/23: vocalist Samirah Evans
These lounge performances run from 6-9pm; free admission, open seating (no reservations, sorry).
A special concert will cap this weekend on Sunday, Oct. 24, when pianist Ted Rosenthal performs his unique interpretations of George Gershwin compositions. Highlighted by his innovative treatment of the legendary Rhapsody in Blue, Ted’s repertoire for this first “tea time jazz special,” is collectively known as Rhapsody in Gershwin. The music starts at 4pm. Tickets are $25, and only a handful are still available. The online box office is at

The Thursday-Saturday programming continues through year-end; Ted Rosenthal will be back with a special holiday program in December.
As The Berkshire Eagle so aptly put it, "there's jazz music in the air at The Gateways Inn."
Mark your calendar for Nov. 27, the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, when vocalist Dawning Holmes appears in concert at Saint James Place, in Great Barrington. She will be accompanied by Grammy-winning pianist Jeff Holmes for the 7:30pm concert. Seating will be limited for this duo performance. Ticket information and other details will be posted in coming days.
