Provincetown Arts Press
35th Anniversary Zoom Gala
By: Provincetown - Oct 28, 2020
Dear Friend,
As this momentous year for Provincetown Arts Press draws to a close, we’re very pleased to invite you to our 35th Anniversary Gala, which will be held on Tuesday, November 19 from 7–8pm via ZOOM, and to announce the launch of our first Silent Art Auction, which will open on November 1.
The first-ever virtual fundraiser for Provincetown Arts will be hosted by the incomparable Jay Critchley, and will include a memorial for our founder and lifelong editor, Chris Busa, a poetry reading by Nick Flynn, raffles, special guest appearances by artist Sasha Chavchavadze of the SALLY project and others, and the culmination of the online auction. Our live event will include the final minutes of bidding for our auction centerpiece, Mimi Gross’s The Arrival, an original oil painting created for the cover of this year’s issue of Provincetown Arts. You’ll also hear exciting updates from the press’s new leadership about the future of Provincetown Arts Press.
Tickets to the event are available on our website, provincetownarts.org, and include one or more raffle tickets for giveaways including a personalized portrait by painter Daphne Confar, courses at the Fine Arts Work Center’s 24PearlStreet and the Castle Hill Center for the Arts, a studio tour with master Provincetown painter Salvatore Del Deo, and much more. The hour-long event will be a celebration of 35 years of Provincetown Arts magazine and the press, and we hope you’ll join us.
Bidding for dozens of paintings, prints, sculptures, and photographs by artists contributing to our online Art Auction will culminate at the end of the Gala event. We are thrilled to offer work by Mimi Gross, Peter Busa, Marion Roth, Joel Meyerowitz, Carmen Cicero, Kahn & Selesnick, Vicky Tomayko, Marcia Marcus, Judith Shahn, Mark Adams, Sarah Lutz, Sharon Horvath, and scores of other artists. Please stay tuned for additional details about the November 1 auction launch. All proceeds from the Gala and Auction support Provincetown Arts Press and our participating artists.
Our work wouldn’t be possible without your readership and support. Please join us online on November 19 to celebrate our history and toast the future of Provincetown Arts Press and magazine. We look forward to seeing you there.
With best wishes,
The Provincetown Arts Press staff and board
