The Elevator
More on the Ups and Downs of Poetry

The Elevator
The open door beckons.
An apostle once pursued the dream
Of heaven.
And meeting on the crowded fifth floor,
You,
The scent of cinnamon.
"A decaf." you had ordered.
And in descending,
The uncertainty principle in practice.
Will we ever arrive where
We are headed
Or now declared,
Out of service.
