The Joint is Jumpin'

The jazz scene is alive and well in the Berkshires, as the Berkshire Eagle points out in this deep-dive by Bob Luhmann. Some history and a good look at the current scene combine to provide context for the Pittsfield CityJazz Festival, April 23-May 1.
Here’s the story, along with a quick look at the schedule.
Besides the historic references, the article mentions some important coming dates, including
· the Berkshire Gateway Jazz Weekend, June 17-19 in downtown Lee, Mass. (“the Gateway to the Berkshires”);
· the annual Berkshire Jazz Showcase, a free outdoor concert that showcases local musicians, July 23; and
· Dear Erich, Ted Rosenthal's jazz opera, Aug. 6 at the Mahaiwe in Great Barrington.
All this and more –including the regular Monday jazz scene at Mission, Wednesdays at Flat Burger Society, and intermittent jazz brunches at Dottie’s—make for a welcoming jazz landscape for all to enjoy.
