The Mount, Edith Wharton Cultural Center is pleased to announce the opening of its 2026 season on Saturday, May 9, 2026. Visitors are invited to return to this historic estate to experience the beauty, history, and cultural legacy of one of America’s most celebrated literary figures, Edith Wharton.

 

Visitors can enjoy guided tours of Edith Wharton’s elegant mansion and formal gardens, led by knowledgeable and experienced guides who bring her life and work vividly to life. Our in-house exhibits, displayed throughout the Mansion, provide insight into Edith Wharton, her family, and her world. The estate offers a unique opportunity to explore the world of the Pulitzer Prize-winning author in the very place she designed and cherished.

 

In addition to tours, visitors can:

  • Relax and dine at the Terrace Café, featuring seasonal refreshments in a       picturesque setting

  • Browse the Gift & Bookstore, offering curated books, unique gifts, and       literary-inspired items

  • Enjoy a walk through the beautifully maintained grounds, including gardens, woodlands, and scenic vistas. Leased dogs are welcome!

Visitor Information

·       Mansion Tour Tickets: Members Free | Non-members $22. Children 18 and under are free. The Garden Tour is included with a Mansion Tour ticket.

·       Tickets go on sale April 28 for members and May 5 to the general public.

  • Free parking is available on-site in the main parking lot. Accessible parking is available at the Mansion.

  • Mansion & Bookstore Hours:

    • Daily May 9–October, 10:00 am–5:00 pm

    • Weekends November–December, 10:00 am–3:00 pm

  • Terrace Café Hours:

    • May 9–Labor Day: Sunday–Friday, 11:00 am–3:00 pm

    • Labor Day–mid-October: Sunday–Friday, 11:00 am–2:30 pm

 

Whether discovering The Mount for the first time or returning for another visit, guests will find a welcoming and enriching experience for all ages.

 

The Mount continues its mission as a vibrant cultural center, hosting programs and events throughout the season that celebrate literature, art, and design.

 

About The Mount, Edith Wharton Cultural Center

The Mount, located in Lenox, Massachusetts, is a vibrant cultural center inspired by the life and work of American author Edith Wharton (1862 – 1937) set among her historic home and gardens in Lenox, MA. Here, history, literature, and nature come together to spark ideas, creativity, connections, and cultural experiences.

 

Designed and built by Wharton in 1902, the estate is a National Historic Landmark encompassing a historic house museum, formal gardens, and 170 acres of publicly accessible grounds.

 

By honoring Edith Wharton’s legacy with contemporary programming, The Mount offers a place where past and present meet—encouraging inquiry, creativity, and dialogue across generations.
