Hosta la Vista Baby
Morning Manta

Hosta La Vista Baby
From the dining room table
House in Adams
View of my favorite hosta
One of many
Split and multiplied
Morning meditations
Gazing over coffee
Zoning out
Starting another day
Cycle of growth
Each year larger
Quite glorious
Leaves yellow by August
Bleached by the sun
Then wilted and transparent
With fall frost
Last year
Critters got it
Early on
Nibbled to a stub
Annoying all summer
Hosta turned hostile
Now returned
Renewal of spring
Yet again glorious
After cruel Berkshire winter
Shivering in the ground
Now like Persephone
Released from Hades
Rejoined with
Mother Flora
