By: Philip S. Kampe and Maria Reveley - Jun 24, 2015
For the next week, there is no better place to be in America than at Tanglewood, located in Lenox, Massachusetts (known as the Berkshires). Strategically located in-between Boston and Manhattan, Tanglewood is the summer home of the Boston Pops Orchestra.
The Official Opening Night is on July 3rd, with James Taylor headlining the July 4th show and Bernadette Peters closing the weekend with an afternoon (2:30pm) show on July 5th.
The BSO made a brilliant move by using the weeks prior to the official opening on July 3rd as a time to highlight popular artists.
In the next week, the opportunity exists to see:
June 25 & 26th-- Mark Morris Dance Group (8pm)
June 27th-- Garrison Keillor: A Prairie Home Companion, Love radio broadcast (5:45pm)
June 28th-- Huey Lewis & the News (2:30pm)
June 30th—Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga (8pm)
Indoor and lawn tickets are available for all concerts, if they are not sold out. In essence, if you purchase lawn tickets for all four events, your cost would be under $100. Pack a picnic lunch and a bottle of wine of your choice and you are set for a memorable week.
Visit www.bso.org for tickets.
