Barrington Stage Company, the award-winning theatre in downtown Pittsfield, under the leadership of Artistic Director, Julianne Boyd, and Managing Director, Tristan Wilson, proudly announces two additional productions as part of the theatre’s 19th season; the world premiere of Muckrakers by Zayd Dohrn and Disney’s The Little Mermaid JR.

The 10×10 Upstreet Arts Festival returns to downtown Pittsfield for the second year from February 14-24, 2013, and features music, theatre, dance, film, visual art, spoken word, comedy and more, including BSC’s 10×10 New Play Festival.

Barrington Stage Company will launch its season with the musical On the Town from June 12 to July 13. It will be followed by The Chosen, Chaim Potok’s acclaimed novel has been adapted for the stage by Aaron Posner and Chaim Potok. A rare for Barrington Shakespeare play completes the main stage season with Much Ado About Nothing. The St. Germain Stage features The Chosen, Chaim Potok’s acclaimed novel which has been adapted for the stage by Aaron Posner and Chaim Potok. Followed by the musical Southern Comfort and a premiere of Scott and Hem in the Garden of Allah by Mark St. Germain.

Barrington Stage Company announces that the acclaimed new play, The Best of Enemies, by Mark St. Germain (Dr. Ruth, All the Way and Freud’s Last Session), will be presented from November 27 through December 23 at New Jersey’s George Street Playhouse, 9 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ. Single ticket sales exceeded $1M for the second time in BSC’s 18-year history, even breaking last year’s total (the first time was in 2011). Total season pass sales for 2012 are 30% greater than 2011 season pass sales. St. Germain Stage passes alone increased 44% from 2011 to 2012 (after nearly doubling from 2010 to 2011) – representing an all-time record number of season passes. 2012 attendance is more than 51,000, representing a 6% increase over 2011.

During the run of Lord of the Flies some 2,500 students will attend five morning performances. This experience, combined with reading the classic William Golding novel, will be the focus of class room discussion. The production with a cast of ten boys is full of sanguine energy and exuberance. The play ends a strong season for Barrington Stage Company in Pittsfield.

The premiere run of Dr. Ruth All the Way by Mark St. Germain sold out at Barrington Stage Company. A return, through October 7, allows for fine tuning the one woman play which stars Debra Jo Rupp. During this first of two installment of a recent dialogue St. Germain also discussed a work, Scott and Hem in the Garden of Allah, commissioned for next summer's Contemporary American Theatre Festival in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.

Barrington Stage ends the Mainstage summer season with a vintage, 1943, British farce See How They Run. From beginning to hilarious end we never stopped laughing. This is a delightfully silly evening of theatre.

While the official high season ends on Labor Day Barrington Stage will remain busy through the fall shoulder season. Highlights include the return of Dr. Ruth and the much anticipated production of Lord of the Flies.

Rajiv Joseph is best know for the Broadway production of Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo. The play, a finalist for the 2010 Pulitzer Prize, starred Robin Williams as the Tiger. Barrington Stage is presenting the East Coast premiere of his two person, one act play The North Pool.

The premiere of Dr. Ruth, All the Way sold out its 36 performances at Barrington Stage's smaller St. Germain Stage. The theater in the former VFW Hall, now owned by Barrington, was named for the company's resident playwright and author of Dr. Ruth, Mark St. Germain. The one woman show stars Debra Jo Rupp. There will be changes and fine tuning for the run from September 18 through October 7.

All My Sons, 1947, by Arthur MIller is on the short list of Great American plays. Currently Barrington Stage, under artistic director, Julianna Boyd is presenting a compelling, meticulously crafted production with a top notch cast. It is hardly what one would call light summer entertainment.

Barrington Stage Company in Pittsfield announces that Tony nominee Brad Oscar will take on the role of the beloved dairyman Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, running June 13 through July 14, kicking off the theater’s 18th season in the Berkshires.

Barrington Stage Company was founded in 1995. In 2005, with seed money from the city, the company moved from rented facilities in Sheffield to a permanent home in Pittsfield. Three years later it transformed rented space in the nearby V.F.W. Post as a Second Stage. Now that building has been gifted and Renamed Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center. With no additional debt beyond renovation BSC has now completed its Pittsfield campus.

Barrington Stage Company (BSC) announces four new Associate Artists. Formed in 2010, the Associate Artists Program’s inaugural honorees were composer/lyricist William Finn, actor/director Christopher Innvar and playwright Mark St. Germain. This year’s new Associate Artists are music director Darren R. Cohen, actors Mark H. Dold and Debra Jo Rupp, and production stage manager Renee Lutz.
