Alanis Morissette's musical, Jagged Little Pill, leads the way with 15 nominations. In the Play category, Jeremy O. Harris' Slave Play comes out on top with 12 nominations. A date for the Tony Awards presentation has yet to be announced.

The Tony Award-winner last appeared as Mrs. Higgins in a 2018 Broadway revival of My Fair Lady. Rigg also portrayed James Bond's wife in the 1969 film On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

    Lighting designer Howell Binkley has died of cancer at age 64. His work on the original Broadway productions of Jersey Boys and Hamilton earned him the Tony Award in 2006 and 2016, respectively. Binkley most recently designed the lighting for the world premiere of Fly at Southern California's La Jolla Playhouse.

The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees has drafted a 27-page document containing COVID-related safety guidelines for theaters. The union represents more than 150,000 members. They are employed in positions such as theatrical technicians and stagehands.

    Broadway star Nick Cordero dies from complications of COVID-19. Cordero, 41, portrayed tough guy characters in musicals. Cordero's wife, Amanda Kloots, chronicled Cordero's condition on Instagram. Kloots and others used the hashtag #WakeUpNick to hope that Cordero would awaken from a long coma while in intensive care.

You'll need to subscribe to Disney Plus in order to watch the production. This is not a film adaptation of the musical. A film crew captured a live performance of the original Broadway production.

    Larry Kramer died recently at age 84. The activist and playwright tried to bring attention to the AIDS crisis after perceiving indifference among government officials and others. Kramer penned a largely autobiographical play, The Normal Heart. The late, fiery Kramer also founded the Gay Man's Health Crisis. It was the world’s first and leading provider of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and advocacy.
